Written by Peter ConradAt Travel Excellence we never let the details aside when talking about what is the best for our clients and today we want to talk about one tour for those tourists visiting Guanacaste area. This tour is the Santa Rosa National Park, which is home of a very important monument in the country, the Hacienda Santa Rosa.

Famous locally as La Casona (meaning “large house” in Spanish), this monument marks the fall of the filibuster William Walker and his mercenaries in 1856. Nowadays, La Casona is a museum devoted to the memory of that battle.

The Santa Rosa National Park is one of Costa Rica’s most isolated protected areas; however, it provides many activities for different types of local and foreign visitors, such as, history and nature lovers as well as surfers come to Santa Rosa during different times of the year to enjoy its riches.

How to get there? You can drive from San Jose to Liberia in Guanacaste, taking the interamerican highway. You can also flight to Liberia International Airport and then drive or take a private transportation. If you drive from the Daniel Oduber International Airport, follow the highway to Liberia you will find the entrance to this park 35 km and turn left.
