As an effort by SANSA to increasingly connect passengers with Santa Teresa, Montezuma, and Malpais, they have moved operations to Cobano airstrip, located just 20 minutes from Santa Teresa. This airport has the conditions to carry out its operation always with the highest safety standards. Cobano has a much wider and longer track than Tambor, which allows for greater use in terms of performance. The airport has a much larger ramp for the arrival of the aircraft, as well as an office that can serve customers with a series of amenities that make the check-in process and the wait much more pleasant. The official transfer to Cobano Airstrip was made last October 15, 2023.
It is important to take into consideration that the airstrip code will be COB (Cobano) instead of TMU (Tambor). The flight itineraries will be very similar since the flight time difference is very small from one another. Flights from other destinations such as Liberia will also be operated to Cobano, as is the case of Liberia – Cobano – Liberia.
Starting December 4, 2023, Air France will offer a daily flight between the international airports Juan Santamaria (San Jose) and Charles de Gaulle (Paris). On the other hand, KLM will operate four weekly seasonal flights that will link the Netherlands and Europe with the country, from October 29, 2023, to March 29, 2024. Thus, the Air France-KLM group will offer 11 weekly flights during the European winter. This is due to growing demand in recent months. In addition to Air France’s offer, KLM will operate a direct San Jose-Amsterdam-San Jose flight 4 times a week from the end of October to December.
