These changes aim to convey that both categories are ideal for all kinds of romantic getaways, not just honeymoons, while preserving their intimate, exclusive character.

After an extensive renovation completed in late 2025, the hotel now offers three room categories: Junior Suites, Junior Suites Superior, and Master Suites.
This new classification—Junior Suites Superior—reflects the upgrades made to infrastructure, furnishings, and services, all aimed at providing greater comfort, exclusivity, and a more personalized lodging experience.
Regarding the renovation works at the main restaurant, Ti-Cain, unfortunately, the project has experienced delays, and the hotel has announced a new estimated completion date of February 15.
This investment is intended to improve infrastructure, streamline internal operations, and offer guests an even more well-rounded culinary experience. Throughout the process, the hotel remains committed to minimizing disruptions and maintaining its service standards across the property.
Once the official reopening date and commercial details are confirmed, they will be shared promptly.
The Travel Excellence team is in constant communication with the hotel to monitor progress and provide ongoing support to our clients on the ground.
We will share further updates as soon as they become available.
Senda Monteverde has announced that its pool is in the final stage of construction. The jacuzzi, landscaping, and other minor details are currently being completed. The work is expected to be finished by the end of January, with the pool scheduled to open during the first week of February 2026.
In a second phase, a custom-designed sauna will be installed, tailored to the hotel’s specifications. Once manufacturing is complete, the installation will be straightforward and is not expected to cause any inconvenience, as it will only require placement of the unit and standard electrical connections.
As always, the Travel Excellence team remains in close contact with the hotel to provide ongoing support to our clients on-site, and we will share further updates as soon as they become available.
Access to national parks is limited and, in the specific case of Corcovado National Park, demand has increased considerably. For this reason, it is essential to have clients’ complete information (full name and passport number) at least 45 days prior to the date of entry. This allows to process ticket purchases in a timely manner and to guarantee the availability of the requested services.
Please note that once tickets have been purchased, name changes are not permitted under any circumstances.
The Netherlands is currently the fifth-largest source of European tourists to Costa Rica.
KLM has confirmed to the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) that it will maintain five weekly nonstop flights between Amsterdam and Costa Rica throughout the entire year of 2026. This expansion significantly boosts direct connectivity with the Netherlands and Europe, adding approximately 22,000 additional seats.
Under the new agreement, operations will now extend beyond the usual high season (October to March) to include April through October, covering the full calendar year. Flights between Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) and Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport (AMS) will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
This represents a major increase in air capacity and opens broader access to connecting flights across Europe via Amsterdam.
The route will be served by Boeing 787 aircraft. Preliminary schedules indicate arrival in Costa Rica at 5:10 p.m. and return departure to the Netherlands at 8:35 p.m.
The Netherlands: A strategic gateway to Europe
According to the latest data from the ICT, between January and September 2025, Costa Rica welcomed 24,269 visitors from the Netherlands. In total, 309,710 European tourists arrived by air during the same period.
This announcement comes alongside news of increased frequencies from Air France. Starting in December, the European airline—part of the same group as KLM—will operate additional flights twice weekly (Mondays and Saturdays) from February 9 to March 15, 2026. It will be the first time a European carrier offers nine weekly flights to Costa Rica.
Guanacaste Airport Launches Nonstop WestJet Flight from Vancouver
The new route strengthens the connection between Canada’s west coast and Guanacaste.
The flight will operate on Fridays through April 24, 2026.
The Vancouver–Guanacaste route (YVR–LIR) will be operated by WestJet every Friday aboard a Boeing 737-8 MAX. According to the schedule, the flight will arrive in Guanacaste at 9:21 a.m. and depart back to Vancouver at 10:30 a.m.
The launch of this service reaffirms WestJet’s commitment to offering Canadian travelers more opportunities to explore the natural and cultural beauty of Costa Rica.
With this new operation, ties with Canada’s west coast are further strengthened. WestJet is now the Canadian airline with the highest number of nonstop routes to Guanacaste, with direct flights from Toronto (YYZ), Calgary (YYC), Montreal (YUL), Vancouver (YVR), and soon Winnipeg (YWG).
Porter Airlines Launches First Nonstop Route Between Costa Rica and the Canadian Capital
The Ottawa–Guanacaste flight (YOW–LIR) operates four times per week and will increase to six weekly frequencies from January through April 2026.
This is the airline’s second route to Guanacaste for the 2025–2026 high season, following the launch of its Toronto service in December. Porter is currently the only airline offering nonstop flights between Ottawa and Liberia.
