Rio Celeste Hike

About this activity

Hidden within the cloud forest of Tenorio National Park, the magnificent bright blue Rio Celeste and the Waterfall will take your breath away. Mysterious and imposing, the Celeste River is the result of a natural manifestation from the merge and meet of Quebrada Agria and Río Buenavista. What visitors can see here is called “Teñidero”, or “dye-point”, where the transparent waters suddenly turn to turquoise.

During the 7 Km hike through both primary and secondary rainforest, you will enjoy the trails while searching for monkeys, sloths, tropical birds and more. The trail winds along the banks of the river, taking hikers to the impressive waterfall – a wonderful place to take pictures.

Before you get to the Celeste river, you will get to a place called ¨Las Ollas¨. Here you can find hot mud, perfect for a ¨day spa¨ treatment to your skin and finally relax in the natural hot springs at the river bank. A Costa Rican typical lunch will be served at the end.

It is highly recommended to bring your bathing suit, change of clothing, binoculars, towel, camera, insect repellent and to wear hiking shoes, long pants sun block, and hat.

This tour is great for people in good physical condition and for children over 8 years, please take precautions of the case.
