Makanda by the Sea is an exclusive adults-only boutique hotel for guests aged 18 and over, set on a hillside surrounded by lush tropical rainforest with views of the Pacific Ocean in Manuel Antonio. The hotel is just a short drive from Manuel Antonio National Park and approximately 6.4 km (4 miles) from Quepos Airport (XQP), about 15 minutes away. Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) is approximately 156 km (97 miles) away, with a driving time of around four hours.
The property offers suites and villas in several categories, each with a unique design and a private balcony, in a peaceful setting that provides privacy and a close connection with nature. Accommodation options feature views of the tropical gardens, forest, or Pacific Ocean. Some categories include a hot tub, private pool, or infinity pool. Most accommodate two guests, except for the Luxury Villa (Four People), which features two bedrooms and accommodates up to four guests.
Hotel facilities include an infinity pool and the Ocean Club Lounge, both set above the treetops, Árbol Restaurant, Shanti Spa, and a fitness center. The restaurant serves breakfast on the pool terrace, as well as lunch and dinner. The spa offers massages, facial and body treatments, couples’ experiences, and wellness packages.
Guests can also enjoy Wild Beach, a secluded natural beach reached by a steep trail, with golf cart transportation available upon request. The surrounding forest is home to a variety of wildlife, including toucans, scarlet macaws, and sloths.
