Law to regulate use of Tobacco

With the signing of this law by the President of the Republic, Costa Rica joined more than 60 countries that make up the group of tobacco smoke free nations.

This law is primarily aimed to reduce the consumption of these products, combat the illegal trade of these; educate present and future generations about the health risks of tobacco products and reduce the social and environmental damage caused by smoking.

It is important to inform all visitors that in our country smoking is prohibited in public and private places, like hospitals, bus and taxi stops, bars, restaurants, schools, cultural & sports venues and in all offices and work places, including all hotels in the country.

We are active members of the most important tourist associations, both national and international.
