Juan Carlos Borbón, general manager of the Costa Rican Tourist Board (ICT) confirmed that the institution received the final plans to begin the construction of the National Centre of Conventions and Congresses.
The general manager said that the tender to build the center is in its first stage, where some companies will be prequalified to compete for this project. When this first stage is completed the chosen companies will have one month to submit their offers. The final choice will be marked by price and construction time, which is estimated in one year, starting in November 2013.
The center will be located in Heredia, and construction is planned in an approximate area of ??15.000sqm, on a land of 10 hectares. The infrastructure will include: exhibition area, conference rooms, VIP meeting rooms, press rooms, kitchen and restaurant, on the outside: parking, vehicular and pedestrian circulation and outdoor exhibition areas. According to the ICT, this project aims to satisfy the demand of MICE tourism segment and national and international conventions.
