Costa Rica has been listed as one must-see destination for 2016 by the popular magazine National Geographic Traveller. Ranking second in the list, and exceeding some popular destinations like Cuba, Rio de Janeiro and Argentina, the article highlights that besides all the natural beauties the country has to offer, is now easier to travel here thanks to the two new direct flights from England.
But, according to the article, what makes Costa Rica one of the coolest destinations to travel in 2016 are its rainforests, nature trails, belching volcanoes, and deserted beaches.
For this reason, we want to recommend you two beautiful places that you definitely should include in your itinerary: San Gerardo de Dota – an amazing cloud forest; and Nosara Beach – a paradisiac place to sunbathe.
San Gerardo is a small, picturesque town located 3 hours away from San Jose. It´s the perfect place for those looking to rest in the middle of nature, but especially for birdwatchers; in fact, this region is well known for being the primary habitat for the resplendent Quetzal – one of the most beautiful birds of Costa Rica.
Nosara Beach is located in Guanacaste province, in the Northern Pacific of the country. To get to this paradisiac beach from San Jose, a 4-hour road trip will be necessary; instead, we recommend a domestic flight that will take no more than 35 minutes. Nosara is an uncrowded beach, a real paradise for experienced surfers; in fact, it was named by the National Geographic in the top 20 Best Surf Towns in the World.
