This area is one of the best places in Costa Rica for the observation of the Great Green Macaw (Ara Ambigua) thanks to the great concentration of almendro tree found in the region. The world population is about 7.000 individuals. In Costa Rica, this specie is currently limited to approximately 600 Km2 of tropical very wet forest in the Northern part of the country and it highly depends on the almendro tree (Dipteryx panamensis) both for feeding and nesting. In addition, guests can enjoy a wide variety of activities such as bird watching, horse riding, kayaking on San Carlos River, planting a tree or visiting the Boca Tapada Elementary School.
