Arrival

Meet and greet at Juan Santamaria International Airport after your flight to Costa Rica, and private transfer to your hotel in San José.

Day 2


San José – Playa Cocles (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Private ground transfer to the Caribbean Coast.
 
With its laid-back attitude, the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica is a destination that has it all: long walks on the pristine beaches, exotic flora and fauna in a wildlife refuge, snorkeling or diving among the many reefs in crystal clear waters, world-class surfing, mountain biking, kayaking and cultural visits to indigenous communities.
 
Puerto Viejo is a beach lover´s paradise. Here, amidst the exotic flora and fauna, lies a vibrant seaside town with gorgeous, isolated beaches, clear blue water, and some of the most amazing surfing opportunities. This lovely town lies 34 miles South East of the city of Puerto Limon and 10,2 miles South of Cahuita.
 
With its relaxed atmosphere and its own unique blend of Latino, Afro-Caribbean and Bribri indigenous cultures, Puerto Viejo is a lovely place to have a unique and relaxing Costa Rica vacation. Puerto Viejo has a wide variety of bars and international and local restaurants. There are many interesting attractions nearby, such as the Cahuita National Park, Indian communities and Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge.

Day 3


Cahuita National Park (B, L)

Cahuita is a small coastal town in the south of Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast that has been blessed with beautiful beaches full of coconut palm trees and an exuberant tropical nature. The population, of about five thousand residents, is peaceful, kind and very cheerful, and keeps a very strong Caribbean identity despite of the influence it receives from tourism and all the foreigners that have established in this paradise.
Cahuita National Park is one of the most beautiful protected areas in the Caribbean thanks to its white beaches and deep forests. The walk takes about two hours, but hikers will definitely want to stop frequently to go for a swim in the warm Caribbean waters, to observe the howler monkeys up in the trees or to focus their binoculars on a Green Ibis.

Duration: Half day tour.

Few sites in Costa Rica inspire more respect and admiration than Arenal Volcano.  At 5437 feet, its tall and conical shape stands imposing over the pastured green hillsides that surround its base. Although currently in a resting phase, Arenal remains one of Costa Rica’s most active volcanos for the past 43 years. Its history is charged with eruptions – both major and minor – that have intimately affected the region and the people who live here.

Day 6


Arenal (B)

Located within the corridor followed by birds migrating between North and South America, the trails and bridges of this project will bring the visitor as close as any person could ever imagine observing the birds, the flowers and the lush vegetation of the primary rainforest.  Místico Hanging Bridges is a 250-hectares primary-forest property, made of paths and bridges built to maintain the utmost harmony between man-made structures and nature. The property has impressive views to Arenal Volcano and to the lake that feeds the largest hydroelectric plant in Costa Rica.
This walk is a fun and educative option to learn more about the forest and the local environment and to enjoy the close contact with nature. While walking along the trails, the fascinating world of the tropical forest will open to you. Along these three kilometers of trails, visitors will be immersed in the diverse fauna and flora of this rainforest admiring colorful birds and tropical plant species. More than 50 species of birds have been observed in this site, one of the most productive bird watching walks of the region.
Suitable for all ages and fitness levels, an ideal tour for some family vacations in Costa Rica.

Day 8


Arenal – Manuel Antonio (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. Private ground transfer to Manuel Antonio.
 
The Central Pacific Coast has some of the closest beaches to the capital city.  The most popular ones are Herradura, Jaco, Dominical and the ones in Manuel Antonio National Park. They enjoy the characteristics of this Costa Rica weather: a very hot and humid climate, with a season of brilliant sunshine from December through the end of April and warm waters all year long. 
 
Hills covered with green forests compose the common landscape of the area.  Some of the features which have made Manuel Antonio one of the places most preferred by the tourists are the white sand beaches, cliffs, rivers, rain forests, the large variety of animal life and climate.  The Manuel Antonio National Park is home of the White Faced, Mantled Howler and Red-backed Squirrel monkeys, Two and Three Toad sloths, among other mammals, as well as a number of species of birds. Punta Catedral (cathedral point), the bay of Puerto Escondido (hidden port), and the beautiful beaches with blue green waters represent some of the main attractions of this park.

Day 9


Manuel Antonio (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning, guided visit to Manuel Antonio National Park.
 
 Watch sloths and monkeys moving through the tree canopy, hunt for nocturnal silky anteaters, surprise iguanas resting on a tree and listen to the songs of the various birds. And if you are lucky, you might spot one of the 1,000 remaining endangered Mono Titi or squirrel monkey that live in Manuel Antonio National Park biological corridor. See how many different kinds of flora and fauna you can spot just in the span of a 2 ½ hour nature walk and enjoy some local fresh fruits and refreshments at the end of the trail. If you like, you can hike additionally through the trails and enjoy unspoiled, un-crowded, pristine beaches after or you can stay at the beach for a relaxing afternoon once the tour is over.
