In order to ensure a quality service to the tourists, the Costa Rican Tourism Board (ICT) has already granted to 42 hotels the 5 star rating. The hotels are located both San José and the rural areas. This title is awarded as part of the Certification of Tourism Declaration and takes into account more than the number of rooms offered by the property, issues such as quality of customer service, building conditions and the facilities available to the tourist in all areas.
The hotels awarded with the highest category are throughout the country, 15 in the capital San José, 12 located along the Guanacaste area, 4 of them in Arenal and another 4 in Manuel Antonio. The remaining hotels are divided in smaller quantities in places like Alajuela, Heredia and Puntarenas.
For Costa Rican Tourism Board, to receive the stars certification is an important process for the hotel industry and beyond ensuring a service under the international tourist quality standard also represents a lot of benefits for the hotelier.
