Tours Southern Pacific
Southern Pacific Tours
Considered one the most virgin territories of the country, this region encompasses one of the areas of major biodiversity in Costa Rica, the Corcovado National Park. Nature in its maximum expression… It is rich in flora and fauna, and its environment serves as a refuge to animals in danger of extinction. The best and fastest way to get to the southern Pacific is taking a local flight from San José and landing in Palmar Sur or Puerto Jiménez. Here you will be able to dive and fish. The majority of the hotels located in this area offer packages for several days which include local flights from and to San José, transfers, lodging, all meals, and tours.

Visit to the mangroves

Visit to the mangroves

This tour through the canals of the Sierpe River and the mysterious and fascinating mangroves shows a hidden world, accessible only by boat. Wildlife is prolific, with an abundance of reptiles including Caimans, Crocodiles, tree frogs boas, iguanas and river turtles. Monkeys, anteaters, sloths, coatis and a variety of birds can be admired in this region. Mangroves also play an important role in improving water quality and controlling sedimentation and erosion.

Caño Island

Caño Island

Located 10 miles off the Western coast of the Osa peninsula, the island has white beaches, rocky platforms and cliffs. The existence of stone spheres, tombs with statues of the same material, gold offerings, and polychrome ceramic leads to believe that the island was used solely for a burial ground for important people during the Pre-Columbian era. The tour includes ample time to snorkel. The dark, volcanic rock is home to numerous species of marine life, many of it can be seen after a short swim from the beach. Due to the coral reefs around the island it’s a great opportunity to see a fantastic number of fish, rays and sometimes turtles. There will also be time to do a short walk or just to enjoy the beautiful beach sheltered by coconut palms.

San Josecito Beach

San Josecito Beach

After a boat trip, this tour makes it possible to enjoy a true tropical paradise. San Josecito is a wonderful swimming beach sheltered in a coral-filled bay perfect for snorkeling. This is an excellent spot for beginners as well as for more experienced snorkelers. A picnic on the beach under the shady palms awaits, then a walk through the forest to a cool flowing river for a refreshing swim.

Horseback Riding

Horseback Riding

For an expert rider or novice, a horseback riding tour is a fantastic way to spend a few hours exploring the local flora and fauna. Galloping along deserted beaches or riding through primary rainforest en route to lush, green hilltops with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean or thundering waterfalls hidden deep in the verdant forest is an adventure for horse and nature lovers.
