The Butterfly Farm was created in 1990 and it was the first farm of its kind in Latin America, sustainability has been a core component of its operations. They are proud to inform that The Butterfly Farm was the first tourism attraction to receive the Certification for Sustainable Tourism in Costa Rica.

The process was complex because they had to integrate their normal duties with the compilation of documents and facts for the CST commission. Today the CST seal gives them validation to their efforts in conservation.
