Even if in the Philipines was born the seven billionth person in the world, Costa Rica welcomes their own seven billionth symbol person with the birth of Jeikel Jokhansel Mora Avendaño, increasing the world’s population as well as Costa Rica population.

Authorities decided to choose four hospitals to represent the seven billionth person, due to the difference of time in each country.  Based on this, at Tony Facio Hospital in Limón, Kevin Franco was born just 15 minutes after Jeikel’s birth.  In another hospital of Costa Rica, at Ciudad Quesada, Joshuer Campbell was born.  And finally, around 2:30am, Valeria Calderòn came to life.  From this group of newborns, Jeikel was designated Costa Rica seven billionth symbol.

Entering a mixture of cultures enriched with a variety of delightful traditions, the newborn became part of Costa Rica history with just a few seconds of life and a world to conquer. 

No doubt the 18th year old mother, Fressy Avendaño was smiling happy, her little boy had just come to life perfectly healthy to a peaceful country, where social security standards promote a life expectance of nearly 85 years, one of Costa Rica facts in health care.  Surprisingly, a life expectancy higher than some European countries and the best in Latin America.

By 12:30am, at San Juan de Dios Hospital, Jeikel was the joy of his parents.  A couple from Alajuelita, San José, where is Costa Rica’s best “chicha” and “chinchiví”. Along with these typical beverages comes one of the best San Jose city views, a cheap Costa Rica travel, and unforgettable too!

Jeikel, Costa Rica seven billionth symbol, now forms part of an exuberant country, with an amazing biodiversity, and multiple nature adventures.  He, as well as other newborn symbols, will have new challenges to overcome in order to make of this world, a better one.
