happy sloath campaign logoTo attract new visitors from the United States and Canada, with novel Costa Rica information, are the main objectives of a new advertising campaign, planned and directed by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), through social networks Facebook and Twitter. The campaign will be at internet since mid October.

Thousands of USA and Canadians citizens come every year to enjoy unforgettable Costa Rica ecology tours by taking advantage of many different options that Costa Rica rainforest hotels and travel agencies offer in both low and high seasons.

The goal is “more visitors” and Allan Flores, Minister of Tourism, explained that new campaign is directed exclusively to the United States and Canada because, in this moment, both of them are the main markets for Costa Rica travel tours.

Since many years ago people know more about the country natural wonders and enjoy many attractions in Costa Rica just to click on their computers, but now, the ICT informed that citizens of both countries can download a free application from iPad, to allow them to listening and mix characteristic sounds of Costa Rica biodiversity.

Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) wants to attract 40,000 new visitors annually from cities like San Francisco, New York and Toronto, among others. Flores also explained that the minister seeks to attract "high income and very well educated people also have with a high sense of ecological awareness".

The advertising campaign is based on recent rates that put Costa Rica as the world's happiest nation. That the reason to call the new strategy "Costa Rica's Million Dollar Gift of Happiness".

Some experts from the 22Square Advertising Agency of the United States, in charge of the strategy, explained that it is "distinctive and unique."

Maria Amalia Revelo, marketing manager of the institution, said the main attraction of the campaign is a raffle of a free daily two people trip for a week, for those who come to the official site 'visitcostarica' in Facebook. This promotion is valid only in the U.S. and Canada.

According to ICT, 160 visitors will be awarded, from the 17th of October until February 5, 2012. A U.S.A. company will randomly select a winner every day, Monday through Friday.
